Prednisolone
DESCRIPTION

Prednisolone is a group of medications that are known as corticosteroids. They are synthetic counterparts to the substances that are naturally produced by the body. Prednisolone is available for consumption in tablets of 1mg and 5mg.

How It Works

Corticosteroids can be found in the body. They are an element of the immune response that is triggered, particularly during the presence of inflammation. These corticosteroids work to reduce any harmful inflammation that may be causing aggravation within the body. Sometimes, these levels may not be adequate enough to deal with the issue. In these instances, synthetic forms such as Prednisolone are introduced. This creates a level in the body that is conducive to effectively reducing the inflammation.

Uses

Prednisolone has many different medical uses and can be utilized to overcome many symptoms. It is quite often employed, however, as a way to reduce inflammation that is caused by the onset of allergies.

Dosage

The consumption of Prednisolone should always be followed by a visit to a physician. This is to ascertain whether or not Prednisolone would prove to be beneficial to your condition and what your relevant dose should be. As a part of a maintenance dose, the best possible amount is the one that is least quantity of Prednisolone required. Therefore, it is prudent that you not change the prescription that you have received in anyway. This could lead to unexpected results.

In the case of giving Prednisolone to children, the dose is determined by the weight of the individual. Typically between 0.14mg and 2mg are calculated for every kilo for the daily dose. This can be given as a single dose or divided into two or more amounts.

Adults are instructed to consume between 5mg and 60mg of Prednisolone a day. This can be taken once or more times a day, depending on the measurements.
