Gyne-Lotrimin
DESCRIPTION

Gyne-Lotrimin is an antifungal treatment for yeast infections in the vagina (also known as vaginal thrush).

How It Works

The active ingredient in Gyne-Lotrimin is clotrimazole, an antifungal agent. This agent directly attacks the infecting fungal cells by blocking the enzymes that help the fungus synthesize a cell membrane. The result is a weakened fungal cell membrane that leads to cell death.

Gyne-Lotrimin is only effective against vaginal yeast infections. It should not be used to treat vaginal bacterial infections. This medication can be used as a cream or a vaginal tablet.

Uses

Gyne-Lotrimin is used to treat yeast infection, or thrush, in the vagina. The medication is prescribed or can be purchased over-the-counter.

Gyne-Lotrimin can fully treat the fungal infection with prolonged use. It also helps with unpleasant symptoms such as unbearable itching and burning sensations in the vagina. This product is for internal vaginal use only. Do not apply it as an external cream in the vulva area.

Dosage

Dosage requirements are specified in the patient information leaflet provided with the packaging. A doctor may prescribe a different dosage depending on your condition.

Follow the dosage and application instructions exactly as detailed in the patient information leaflet. Do not apply in higher or lower than recommended dosage. You must also carefully follow the dosage schedule in order for the treatment to be effective.

You will receive an applicator with each Gyne-Lotrimin package. Use the applicator to insert the recommended dosage of cream or tablets into the vagina.

Wash hands before and after using the applicator. Lie down on your back and pull knees towards chest to insert the applicator comfortably.

When inserting the tablet, push it as far as it can go inside the vagina using your fingers or the applicator. The tablet should be used for 1 to 7 nights depending on the severity of the condition. Insert the tablet during bedtime.

Do not stop the treatment early even if the symptoms clear. Abrupt stopping may cause the fungus to return.
