Xenical
DESCRIPTION

Xenical is taken alongside exercise to lose weight, or reduce the percentage of gaining the weight that you’ve already lost. Xenical should be administered alongside a reduced calorie diet.

How it works

Xenical (orlistat) blocks some of the fat that you eat. The food that you eat needs to be broken down into smaller pieces before they can be absorbed. This medication works by blocking the enzyme that does this function. The basic function is to act as a lipase inhibitor. Lipase inhibitors are substances that reduce the activity of lipases. The pancreas releases lipase when fat is present. Lipase inhibitors decrease the absorption of fats into your system.

Orlistat is a saturated derivative of lipastatin. Lipastatin plays a large role in anti-obesity drugs such as Xenical.

Orlistat does not stop the absoirtion of all types of foods, such as calories from sugar. There is a strict diet has to be followed. The food that isn’t absorbed is removed from your body through bowel movement.
